About the Average Calculator
An average calculator summarises a set of numbers so you can spot the typical value at a glance. Paste in test scores, expenses or measurements and get the mean, median and mode together.
The mean is the classic average, the median is the middle value, and the mode is the most frequent value — each tells you something different about your data.
How to use the Average Calculator
- Type or paste your numbers, separated by commas, spaces or new lines.
- Click Calculate.
- Review the mean, median, mode and other statistics.
How the calculation works
Mean = Sum of values ÷ Count of values
The median is found by sorting the values and taking the middle one, while the mode is the most frequently occurring value.
Example
For 82, 90, 76, 88, 95 the mean is 86.2, the median is 88, and the sum is 431.
